IV International Scientific Conference “Comparative Historical-Philological Research in the XXI Century”

The IV International Scientific Conference “Comparative Historical-Philological Research in the XXI Century” will be hosted by the Ural Federal University from the 20th to the 22nd of March 2024. The conference will be held in a hybrid format, both online and in person.

The following topics will be discussed at the conference:

  1. Literary comparative studies in the modern age: theory and practice. Problems with reception of translated works in an accepting culture
  2. History and modern life: the meaning of jubilees in 2023-2024.
  3. Children’s fiction in intercultural interactions
  4. The “young adult fiction” phenomenon in modern literature
  5. Modern linguistic research in the comparative aspect. Translation as intercultural communication
  6. The problems of didactics in a intercultural aspect.

A round table discussion, featuring translators and publishers will be held during the conference. Tours of the Ural Federal university’s museums as well as a tour of Yekaterinburg will be provided for the conference’s participants.

The working languages of the conference are Russian and English.

ALL-RUSSIAN RESEARCH CONFERENCE WITH INTERNATIONAL PARTICIPATION

The Semyonov Readings are held for the 19th time as a tribute to associate professor and the founder of the Faculty of Foreign Languages of the Yakut State University, now Institute of Modern Languages and International Studies, NEFU, Apolloniy Semyonov (28.12.1903 – 23.10.1977). Apolloniy Semyonov made a great contribution to the development of linguistic education in the Sakha Republic (Yakutia). He was awarded the title of the “Honored School Teacher of the YASSR”. He was also awarded medals “For Labor Valor in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-45”, “For Valiant Labor in Commemoration of the 100th Vladimir Lenin Anniversary”. He received honorary diplomas from the University and the government of the Republic. Detailed information presented on the conference page.

CONFERENCE PARTICIPANTS

Students, undergraduates of educational institutions of secondary and higher professional education of Russia, students of schools of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) are invited to participate. Graduate students are also invited to participate in the conference out of the general competition for the best reports. The selected articles will be included in the conference proceedings.

— March 2, 2024, the electronic registration system will be closed, the application process will be stopped. From March 4 to March 11, 2024, the selection of the received articles for inclusion into the Conference Program will be carried out. RFL teachers’ forum

On 16-17 November 2023 in Russian Language Centre Lomonosov Moscow State University, the International Association of Teachers of Russian as a Foreign Language (MAPRI) cooperating with the charity organisation “Russian Humanitarian Mission” will hold the 6th Moscow International Cultural and Educational Forum RFL-2023 “The Role of the Russian Language and Culture: From Africa to Asia. Tasks and Prospects”. The forum will be held both online and offline, the online portion will last from 10 A.M. to 7 P.M. MSK(UTC+3). The forum will feature a Round Table meeting on the topic of teaching Russian to bilingual and foreign language speaking children. The host of the Round Table meeting is the Dr. of Pedagogical Sciences, professor, head of the chair of Language Pedagogy and Bilingualism of MPGU Khamrayeva E.A.

Is one person capable of saving an endangered language?

DSc prof. E.D.Suleimenova gave a lecture “Is one person capable of saving an endangered language?” in Al-Farabi Kazakh National University November, 30, 2018. The lecture is devoted to the works of the outstanding phoneticist Cecilia Odé. One of the most important lines of her research is description and preservation of endangered languages, such as the language of the Tundra Yukagirs.
